I've always loved lotus and I was wondering if anyone has kept them in successfully in the aquaria. Would be in a 90g with a large overhanging light.

Sand substrate. I would most likely have to start it with a tuber.

Lily pad Lotus? or Tiger Lotus? Lily pad Lotus's you could grow indoors but since its leafs float and are quite big for most tanks just 1 plant could be all you could grow

Yea lily pad lotus. Certain species are smaller than others. Some I've had in the past had leaves 20 inches wide.

I may also do a tropical water lily. Like a star of Zanzibar or something.

Not to sounds crazy but my grandpa had a tank that had some oscars in it and he grew lilies and lotuses like you wanting to on the water. The oscars never bothered them since they were above them but when he tried plants under the water they ripped them up:P

Ok I currently have a 36 inch regular aquarium light on it. I was going to buy a 10000k light for the lily. Will the bulb fit in or are there different fixtures or ends to the different bulbs?
