love cichlids

I have a 55 gallon tank and love the idea of getting some convict cichlids (i have 3 boys and would love for them to experience the breeding) but a question....what would go in the tank with them? Also how do you deal with the fry?
 
Just to clarify. You have three boys as in sons or you have 3 male convicts?
 
sorry have 3 sons and they all love animals want to expose them to breeding animals....oldest is 10 and want to breed animals when he gets older
 
Convicts are great. They are easy to breed and are good parents. In a 55 gallon tank they will pretty much beat up on all the other fish once they have fry. The fry can be left with the parents, but eventually will need to find new homes. Convicts are common so selling the fry is usually not very easy.
