Hi i would like to introduce myself.. i am interested in taking better pics and i plan on buying a Nikon D40 next week and will need some tips on learning about the DSL camera.. i have presently been using a canon A5 IS powershot.. but i am ready to move up but yet not ready for a expensive cameras until i learn more.. So i am ready to trade this one in for an upgrade and maybe next year do the same.. depending on how i progress..lol.. love taking fish pics .. i have plenty of tanks to practice so this looks like a great place to learn..looking forward to seeing all your beautiful pics too..

welcome! The world of using a DSLR is incomparable to the world or point and shoots. DSLR's allow you to do much more. Nikon is a good choice.

Thanks .. i know i will need help with settings and timings etc.. i cannot wait.. should have it tuesday...
 
I think you did the right thing getting a slightly less expensive body. The quality of the lens is the more important thing. Since you saved money on the camera body, go splurge on a really nice lens. The best thing is, if you get a fancier Nikon body later, the lenses are interchangeable.

thanks..the lens will be in the near future birthday present.. thats a great idea.. i won't really have to upgrade the camera.. just the lens until i am really ready to upgrade.. good information Felicia..
