Is there such thing as a lowflow canister filter?
I don't mean like the little HOB canisters.I mean would anyone here consider a Eheim 2260 low flow compared to a Fluval FX5 .I realize a 2260 does not have the same GPH as a FX5,but would anyone say the Fluval is high flow and the Eheim is low flow.

Or not just the 2260 and FX5,just Eheim and Fluval. Is a Eheim a low flow compared to a Fluval?

Yes, simply look at filter stats and compare gph.
Eheims are designed for biofiltration. That means optimal contact time of water with media as it passes thru the filter. You can also tell by the massive canister volumes, especially if you compare the 2260 with the FX5. The FX5 is better at mechanical filtration than the 2260, though.

But then simply compare the 2262 with the FX5, and you will see that they do not differ too much in flow.

Lastly, I would not call an FX5 a heavy duty filter as the above poster did. High throughput, yes. But heavy duty is quality in material and craftsmanship IMO, which is where Eheim sets all standards. But that has little to do with your original question.
