"low grade fh's"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its all price...down here you can get you standard fh for $10 or you can get the kemfa and trimacs from local breeders for $75 or you can go to one store inparticular and get a import from thailand for anywhere ranging from 150-480 depending on how big it is. unless you become friends with the guy and convince him that his $160 FH should go home with you for half the price...like i did... its all price.

Low Grade Fkerhorns, High Grade Fkerhorns.......Humbug.......You either see the normal drab green ones with a few specs of glitter and purple, or the extremely aggressive, freedom flag-colored males with elephantitus foreheads...All has been said and done about these crazy creations... Probably bred from some drunken Asian breeder that was so bored with his life, he knew he had a market of kids ready to buy from him...Don't get me wrong, I too owned one, heck, I bred a pair....I felt, in 2000-2001(when they first were poplur here), that they were SO perfect of a cichlid that maybe a lot of their attention would be sucking away attention from pure breds....Maybe causing the next generation of hobbyist to go all out retarded and stay away from the real beauty of pure breds....Well something like that....Nowadays, much of the stock in lfs's around are drab green snow peas with faint colors of purple and black spots...The few that are worth the purchase are already adults, sometimes costing $400+, which leaves out most enjoyable point with fishkeeping of raising our fish from youngsta to adult....

I disagree about all the quality stock being mostly adults.....Depending on where you live there are plenty of excellent quality fry out there. Just ask people like Arki on how exciting it was to watch his little dull baby turn into the beautiful monster it is today. I think FH's are extremely fascinating because they are unique. I have several top quality pure species cichlids and i still get every bit of enjoyment from my FH so to me the fact that they are a hybrid changes nothing on how i look at the fish. The one down side i would say about most FH's though is that they are highly aggressive and can rarely be kept with other fish unless you get a puss like delgato's FH........

basteredfish knows whats up when it comes to "quality" of fh's ...thats all i got left to say about this

what seperates a low grade from a hi grade flowerH?

im a flowerH virgin:grinno:

easy.. but sorry to say its all about the appearance of the fish and not mainy its character....

mainly you get a group of male hog tide Fh enthusiasts and to the left you you have a dull oblongated overweight saggy female and on the right you have a very vibrant slimmed victoria secret's swim suit model.. well you you make the decisions.. for it is true, different strokes for different folks.. but then again when it comes to qualities you know a bucket from a ferrarri..

ck out http://flowerhornrusforum.com/ and go to this thread http://z7.invisionfree.com/Flowerhornrusforum/index.php?showtopic=250 you'll know what the difference is:drool:

and here i might just add it in..ck this out
