Hi... In my 240 i have one CK and a LMB along with pleco and 2 koi... The tank is heated by a 120w heater cuz im to cheap to get the right heater.... The heater keeps the tank around 75... which the CK is really happy. My question is. can i put in say aro/pbass/oscars or any other Warm water fish that ned to be around 80? Cuz i was told the ck needed 80 but his been around at 75 and lower and loves the tank. thanks oh and what are some low heated monster fish?

Honestly - I do this all the time. Just watch the fish for initial signs of stress while they adjust. My fish are always very happy in room temp. My fish have gone through much lower temps, as well, without injury. It's much more natural, as well.

Some fish take lower temp better than others. Pbass are from south america and especially when small with develop ich in such cold water. Also some warmer water species won't eat in cooler water.

While it's true some warmwater fish will stop eating in cooler water, I have kept PBass in room-temp water without further ado. Yes, they are prone to ICH, though.

The only fish on your list that I have not tried in coolwater would be an arowana. 75 degrees is pretty warm when compared with "cool-water" actually so you're still within the range of most tropical fish.

75 is perfectly fine for Oscars.

Ya the tank doesnt drop pass 75 Im going to put 3 markers in to tonight to see what each side of the tank runs at... the Heater is set to 80 but doesnt even get that hot around the heater....
