I want to control the growth of brown algae in my tank by having plants in it. What are the kinds of plant that can go with a 9" Oscar?

because oscars tend to rip plants up just for grins, there are very few.

Anubias (above) is usually good because it can be anchored to logs and rocks, and seems to have a taste most fish don't like, java fern is somewhat the same, but i have cichlids that will eat it.

Because these plants are low light, and grow slowly, the impact on algae can be sometimes less than satisfying.
Plants that are non aquatic, and can be grown with their roots hanging in sumps or HOB filters such as pothos

(pothos above, papyrus below)

or papyrus (semi-aquatic) are often better algae competetors.

I was thinking java fern and amazon swords cause it will be somewhat bigger that the O's mouth and anubias are really not cheap like java fern here in the PH. Also I don't know what the pothos are called here in the ph cause it's not a really popular plant here i think. will amazon swords also work?

The latin name for pothos is Epipremnum aureum, and is sometime erroneously called Philodendron, but also devils ivy, money plant, and Solomon Island Ivy.
You may find it growing wild as an invasive in the Philippines.

You could may be try floating some anacharis. The Oscar will most likely eat or pull it around but it's cheap enough where it wouldn't be a problem and it's a pretty good nitrate reducing plant. I had some that just grew like crazy, it would grow to about 3 feet long and then I would have to cut it in half. Not sure if it's available where you are but I can get it for about $1.99 per bunch at the LFS.
