I have a72x18x18 tank set up for my poly/african oddballs, and want to add some live plants. I was wanting to use various anubias with possibly an african lotus as a centerpiece along with several large pieces of drift wood. What kind of lighting would I be able to use? Are there any other African low light plants besides the anubias and african fern? I originally planned on either to 36" single tubes, or possibly a 48" single tube. I want it to stay a low light tank b/c all of the species in it are low light loving fish.

are u looking for just african plants??? cause u could make a landscape with jave moss

I'm going with various species of anubias. I picked up three barteri, some malaysian driftwood and ordered a package deal of various anubias and some african fern. I'm hoping it will all be in within a week or so, its coming from Aquaspot.

by african fern do u mean bolbitus? i like the anubis idea but there slow growing. i dont know maybe thats what ure looking for. i would get 2 36'' fixtues with 6700k bulbs in it being that there best for plants. you could also try some jungle or giant val.

Yes, the bolbitus, I couldn't remember the name of it. I'm not after a full blown planted tank. Just thought I'd give a shot to some plants that were supposed to be low light and hardy. I'm currently running a single 48" on the tank (72"). All of the fish are low light and/or nocturnal fish. I want to keep the light down to try and keep them active. I am also planning on moon lights (LEDS) will this cause any problems.

Although not african, Java Fern, Java Moss, Elodea,/Anacharis, Hornwort are all low light plants that can look good if placed in a suitable location.

i nwouldnt think the leds would cause a problem. they look sweet in my opinion. just get some cool driftwood and tie some bolbitus, anubis, or a moss on it. all of those will root/attach themselves to they driftwood
