SUP!!!! New to THIS forum persay, pretty kewl in here guys...tons of informative stuff. I'm gonna be askin a lot of questions over the next few days/weeks. Once I get the money I'm gonna start a couple of planted tanks and want all the info. and advice I can get. SOOOO lets start things off.

I'm wanting to get some low light species of plants, like java fern, j moss, watersprite and the like. My problem is I really like a lot of the medium to high light plants as well, like amazon swords, babys tear (whatever it is), micro swords, and the like. Is it gonna affect the LL plants in any negative way? Or is it gonna increase their growth rates and have them over run the HL plants? Thankz!

AAAAh! THIS forum! I c.

Low light plants will do just fine in a high light tank. Some of my crypts are huge. Give this site a good read and it will tell you alot in the way of planted tanks.http://www.rexgrigg.com/

I guess you use the dark style since you post blinded me in the light style. I kept low light plants in a high light tank before. I didn't have any problems with them. I just kept them in the darker parts of the tank and they did terific.

Oh glad you see you finally out of the pike section, haha jk;)

Yeah I switched the colors....this one can be seen in the light and dark version...woot. I'm all around the forum goober!! ha!

Keep them in 'dark' areas of the tank, check! :D

I've kept several types of anubias which are moderately low light in a uber high light setup in my 240 for a while and they were doing just fine, I had around 6 watts per gallon on them. ~Trent

java moss, java ferns should do well in shade or in brighter light without going too crazy. But you will need to cut java fern occasionally to keep it from overtaking your tank. Water sprite will grow big from my experience, so if possible I would recommend growing that one where it has room to grow up to the surface.

they will be fine. just grow quicker and bigger.
