Hello! I have a 124 gallon aquarium and I do regular water changes. The water has like a semi greenish/cloudy tint to it! I just did a nitrate test and the readings was at 5.0. I know this is a good thing but why the bad water clarity is the question im asking?Any and all replies greatly appreciated!

If the water has a greenish tint to it... it's most likely "green water" due to free floating algae...

If it is milky looking it is probably a bacterial bloom or something similar...

Green water is usually caused by direct (sometimes indirect) sunlight. If possible move the tank so it does not receive direct sunlight (or pull the curtains). If that doesn't help there may be some additives to put in the water although I personal avoid adding any chemicals unnecessarily. A UV light will also remove the greenwater (which is what I would do personally).

It can also do with how long your lights are running. do you have live plants in your tank? How long are the lights on in a day? What is your filtration like? You may be not have enough filtration for your bacteria to grow on compared to your bio load.
