My water level used to be an inch below the top of my 300 acrylic. Now that I added the durso standpipes to quiet down the overflows the water level is a half inch or less from the top. What is the easiest way to get that water level back down to an inch or even better yet, 1.5 to 2 inches lower?

thanks.

Shorten your standpipes.

i thought about doing that but figured it would bring some of the noise back. if thats the only option i'll give it a shot.

It might. It depends how your overflow looks. If you shorten the durso a bit, the water will have a bit further to fall into your overflow chamber (I'm assuming you have an overflow chamber with your durso inside, rather than your durso just in the main tank) The water falling into your chamber might make a little bit of noise but if you're only shortening it a little bit, you oughtn't have a problem. I'm not sure how you'd lower the water level 2" without cutting up your overflow dividers.

Do you have any pics?
