a while back I as happy about hitting 20 ppm I finally have it bellow 10 ppm. while this is not exciting for most it is very exciting when your tap water comes out at 20ppm, for years my normal was 40 ppm.

not sure if its from changing lighting on the pothos or if it from bumping up to a 5k pump or both. I was so excited to see this color more then 5 ppm but less then 10.

Not to pry but how big is the tank and what's your water change size and schedule.

220 with weekly 50% wc

could you share a few more details on the what type of lighting you had and what you changed it to?
what is a 5k pump? what did you have before?

Yeah man.....plants will eat up nitrates.

I switched over to 10k reef lighting, and the green algae is growing a ton. I never have anything other than a 0/0/0 reading (And that's with a well fed 8-9" dovii in a 75 gallon).

Did you reduce your stock as well?

Well the plants where just laying on top of the tank about 3" bellow a shop light with two 48" t8 bulbs at 6500k. The light was fine but the small space meant that leafs covered other leafs. So I moved the plant and have it running along the wall so all leafs are exposed and put two larger CFL lamps aslo at 6500k on on the plants. So now all the leafs get equal amount of light.

I upgraded to a 5000gph pump replacing two quite one 2200 pumps so I went from 1000gph to likely 3500 - 4000GPH. Before I did have two 1300 GPH power heads so I had about 3600gph total. Right now I have no power heads just the output from the pump. So the filtration didn't get that big of a bump but I am now forcing more of the water towards the roots that are in the tank. each of the 4 pothos are well longer then 7' and each one of those are starting to get some off shoots.

Ouch at 20ppm tap.

You have no idea it really sucked never seeing your tanks below 40ppm, and knowing that even if I did 100% wc every day I could only get 20ppm.

Did you reduce your stock as well?

Nope and I will be adding another monster if he ever gets big enough to defend himself.

Nice. Pothos did wonders for my tanks as well.
