What's the lowest you have kept cichlids at. I have 3 electric blue haps growing out in a tank in my basement and the tank is a shocking 65 degrees and they have gone from 1 inch to close to 3 in 2 months I've had them feeding 3 times a day and water changes twice a week

I have kept Firemouths at 70• with no problems, but eventually moved to a warmer room.

Get a heater it will help with growth. But fish are pretty hardy it will do just fine but IDEAL is 72-80 I believe.

When I was young maybe 10 years old I had a gourami I bought in a 2.5 gallon tank I had in my basement towards a window. I forgot about it for 6 months and it was still alive and algae growth was insane. But it was really cold down there so much be good for him since he was not eating.

The problem with keeping tropical fish at lower temperatures is first of all that it weakens their immune system, which makes them more prone to disease (especially ich).
Second of all their metabolism slows down so you will experience slower growth.
Get a heater.

I agree with Jakob, those temps are not ideal for tropical species of fish, such as your S. fryeri. In their current condition your fish are under stress 24/7.
