Hello, I have a quick question.

I have a large tank 150 gallon w/ angelfish and lotsa lrg corys and some decent size but not monster plecos. 6"-10" max. they are I believe the albino "chocolate" plecos you find in LFS and a rhino pleco of some sort.

I want to HEAVILY plant the tank
. I'm thinking heavy on the anubias plants with the tough leaves and stems. anubias nana, barteri, etc etc to carpet the tank, java fern and anubias on the driftwood. i dont want an algae problem so I am going to put a hundred or so amano shrimp/glass shrimp to keep breaking things down on the smaller level.

question:

what other plants would be good that the plecos will probably not eat?

will plecos mess with java moss if it is well attached?

will lrger 8-10" plecos misc. species, nothing aggressive or massive, eat the shrimp (not a big deal to me)..?

given more driftwood and some big rocks with overhangs and maybe a hiding place, will the plecos (this tank has three metal halides on it) look to stay out of the light, hide, and stay off the plants?

are they just gonna tear through it all? don't forget they are not the monster plecos common variety, I am not sure what species they are exactly

Thanks for any advice or help you can give me.

They won't eat smaller plant IME, but uprooting is very common with most. Java fern is the way to go.

you dont have to worry so much about them eating the plants. The problem i had was our larger one would whip and spin around and uproot them all the time. finally i just took the live plants out.

Mat plants and floating plants are the way to go.

Several problems with your setup. One the plecos, if large, will uproot plants as stated. Second, the plants listed do not need a metal halide, and will not benefit from it. Finally, the angelfish will eat the shrimp when they get the chance.
