8-10cm senegal bichir

Matt

no your good i'm really worried but i got my new pike cichlid which is 4'' with my 8'' lima so far so good but i'm keeping my lima pretty fat all the time and i've got my fingers crossed but you should be fine

in cm thats a roughly 20cm lima with a 7-8cm pike sounds bad but the pikes pretty smart and so far has stayed out of the way

Thanks

i am really worried, everytime i think about it i twitch slightly lol.

so u reckon ill be fine, ill give it a go. Ive never kept a LSN before so am not shore how big his mouth is. Should i keep my LSN well fed?

Fingers crossed for u man, i dont envy you.

Thanks
Matt

Should i put a special piece of cover in for the snakehead or not? there is a lot of cover in the tank anyway, just wondering if he needed anything special or not.

Thanks
Matt

This was a pic I took of my lima some time ago. Follow the link you'll see what I mean when I say that their mouths are decieving! If it's thinner or shorter than the lima stay away from it!!!

WOW thanks

those mouths are massive compared to them!!:eek:does it have teeth?

i am in shock, i was not expecting their mouths to be that big.

Thanks
Matt

At the very least...give the snakehead a low flat rock house or cave to hide in....

This MIGHT work for a while and a LOT of hobbiests try it....almost all of them eventually fail however.

Heres a formula that might clear it up for you...

Big cats + tankmates = even bigger cats in an empty tank. The only real variable is how long it takes...

They don't have any teeth to speak of at least not in the sense that your are thinking more like a B. yarelli. Their tooth plates are relatively smooth only rough enough to grab the scales and skin of other fish. Don't be fooled by sizes that some sites give either. There are several members on here with them over 17", at least two with them over 19", and one with one at 22" which I think was donated to an aquarium. Mine is right at 15" in a little over a year. My smaller one is like a year and a half and is 13". It might take a few years but they will grow to at least 16-18" min. If you're lucky(or unlucky) they could hit 20"+. Rare cases 2'. They are fast swimmers, and will stalk their prey, or sit motionless in decorations waiting for it to come to them. They have a pretty good predation rate if you ask me. They can eat the same as a tsn at the same size trust me. Just tigershovelnose get 2x bigger.
