i have a bumble bee chiclid that has a big lump on top of its head. it was fine one day big gooseegg on its head the next. its been there two days and not getting any bigger or small. it looks like some one clobered it. any ideas. maybe it hit its head?

First of all, what bumlebee cichlid are you talking about. The more popular would be Pseudotropheus crabro. The other woud be Tilapia buttikoferi.
While P. crabro or butti's aren't notorious for endowments of large nuchal humps but some may develop them as they age and with dominance.
The fact that it happened "over night" so to speak sound a little supitious though. Any chance you could get a picture?

it is a psuedo.... it aint supposed to have it. the fish is almost 3 years old so it is definitley an adult. ill try to get pics tonight. i have some from before also so you can see the diffferance. also it did happen in one night. ?????? any ideas
I might once I can figure out if it's natural looking or not.
Some older and dominant mbuna just develop fatty tissue in the forhead over time, same as most any other cichlid. With enough time fat will buildup in certain places on the fish. Even angelfish can get a nice little nuchal hump, but seldom do since they're not kept alive long enough to develop it.
It doesn't just happen overnight though. In fish that don't characteristically develop large nuchal humps, you see the fish go through a progression.
Age, dominance and feeding are all foctors.
