Lump on Jaw

Hello everyone, I have noticed a lump with a red spot on my new gourami. He's about 2-3 inches.

nitrite 0
Nitrate 5-10

Still in quarantine from when I got him. Looking at the pictures it seems like he had it on day 1 but it's gotten bigger and developed the redness.

There's now something protruding from the spot.

I believe it is some sort of parasite. When exposed to air the protrusion recedes. Treating with copper.

Copper has seemed to have cured the protrusion. The redness has gone down but not totally away. Has an appetite kind of. It appears like the lump has gone down in size but definitely has not gone away.

Ive had something similar on my Heros. I tried to let it go with clean water but it very slowly kept getting worse. I eventually used Kordon rid-ich and it seemed to work very well.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of using that (Malachite Green) or Metro next.

I have found Kordon Rid-ich to be very gentle on my fish(up to a reasonable treatment duration), so right or wrong, I like to use that first so I dont kill off their gut bacteria if I dont have to.
