I have recently bought a African Spotted Lungfish (10-11inches) in a 75gallon tank with a 6inch florida gar and a 6inch Lima shovel nose cat. Ive seen posts about owners getting their lungfish to come to the top of the tank to get and sometimes eat from their hands. The fish is feeding well (from what I see) but every time I come to the tank the lungfish always hides in its cave/log. When i throw food in the lungfish will not even touch until I leave. Is there anyway i can get this fish to not be afraid of me or will it always be skittish. Also what do you all feed your lungfish, i'm trying to feed mine a mix of Massivore, raw shrimp, beef heart, whole krill, and algae wafers. Is there any tips y'all can give to me that you all have learned over time keeping a lungfish.

Thank you

Here is a vid of my fish eating a night crawler (or atleast trying to until the shovel nose ate it)

That's a good diet to feed your fish, you should definatly add some kelp pellets. I personally use algae wafers. It will prevent your fish from getting deformities in its lateral line. My AL lungfish eats from my hand, but then agAin he has his own tank. Let him get used to the tank Nd find his home. Feed your other monsters then try to hand feed him :)

I've recently traded my lungfish to someone with a much larger footprint tank. It was a very interesting fish but it wasn't what I was looking for. I traded it for Mbu Puffer, the guy is keeping the puffer until it gets a little larger and he'll drop it off

I think I've got the same lungfish, an african spotted lungfish.

However, do you know what kind of lungfish is (protopterus annectens, p. aethiopicus...) ?

Mine, he is very hungry.
There is no cave in my tank, so he isn't shy...
I feed him with some "sinking carnivore pellets" (hikari), earth worms, shrimps...
