African Lung, I think it's Protopterus Dolloi.

Hao is right. That's a protopterus dolloi aka slender african lungfish or spotted african lungfish. Not really peaceful in a community especially with other primitive fish. I had a 20" but had to removed it, as it likes to nip my bowfins. Not sure why it only targeted the bowfins. It doesn't bother my other fish but better late than sorry, that dolloi gots to go.

Did you ever get this fish ? It's a cutie , very cool spots . I just picked one up tonight , I'm thinking it's probably Southern Lungfish but I'm not quiet sure ....

That's just a washed out Nigerian West African Lungfish. Protopterus annectens annectens.

No offense but there's alot more to properly figuring out taxonomy than looking at a poor picture and saying " oh that's a washed out P.a.annectens " . I now volunteer in the Ichythology dept. of a university and it seems that there is not alot of academic researchers that has or presently had their hands wet with this species of fish . We only have eight pickled jarred specimens in our collection so I can not really compare .There is a professor down south from me that is classifing ssp. of Lepidosiren paradoxa I will probably take a trip down there and see him.

Then why ask what subspecies it is? King-eL knows his stuff when it comes to lungfishes, and he's certainly had quite a few of them so I'd give him some credit.

Anyway, it's most likely just a Protopterus annectens annectens because they are the most commonly collected species of lungfish. Do you happen to know where it was collected?

Honestly, the argument over the subspecies is kind of pointless when the differences between the two are pretty subtle and are hardly noticeable to experienced lungfish keepers and researchers, let alone the average person.

Look up my other thread. I'm probably the only person here with southern african lungfish aka protopterus annectens brieni. I probably have 2 or 3 thread that I started with brieni. I have supplier direct from Africa where they are catch them.
Here is my p.a. Brieni caught in Congo Luapula area.

Stop rubbing your Lungfishes in my face. :( I'm jealous. I don't have an extra monster tank to try a multiple Lungfish species.
