Doesn't look like fungus. Looks like a deformity. Or something bit it's upper lip off.

I think its a deformity, has it eaten anything? Do you still have him?

Still have him but dealing with one conplication after the other. Fish struggles to get to the top of the tank to breathe, so we dropped the water level 50%. It had a hole in its head we thought it was from being beaten up. Turns out its hole in the head two days later. Its blind. Very lifeless and i emphasize the lifeless part. Barely eats. Disappointed on the buy..... Wife is not happy
