I know you can't have a Pleco housed with a stingray because they'll munch on their slime coat.
It seems to me that Lungfish have a simlar exterior and I was wondering if the same rule applies???

yup it would

Ive kept two plecos of decent size with my lung for years and they have never touched him.

Ive also seen lungs kept with plecos in a number of other tanks and aquariums and they haven't had this problem either.

Are you sure on this one as I'm having a tough time believing it :/

Its not guraanteed that a pleco will turn into a slime eater many species are known to be more prone such as the ''common pleco''.However the amount of damage done in a short period of time can be devistating including the removal of slimecoat and the destruction of scales by the rasping teeth opens the victum to various bacterial and fungal infections.Sometimes its just better to be safe than sorry-Anne

Yes I can see that its possible in theory ive just never seen it before and havent found anyone else who has

ive seen it with rays but not lungs

hmm

I still would put plecs with my lung, im willing to take the risk in situations like this

It also depends on the species of the pleco many are omnivorious some strictly herbivores.

SLIMECOAT
Is a mucous created by the continual replacement of glandular cells know in the fishes
skin hat produce a glycoprotein which is called
mucin.Areas of the amazon where a number of plecos exist there is little in the line of protein based foods.Plecs are very adaptable to feeding
on availiable food sources and one is the mucus coating of other fish,There is good evidence of these fish doing this in the wild and plenty of
evidence of these fish doing this in captivity. There It really would not be a suprise to find that mucus feeding is a common feeding method in
many Loricariidae catfishes. These fish are really not obligate herbivores.
Gibby's are herbivores.-Anne
