So im tosing with the idea of getting a west african lung fish. I want to do my research before I ever pull the trigger on one. I understand they can get really big, I currently have a 6foot 150 gallon tank that's empty. Would this suffice the lung fish? Or would i need to go bigger?

That's perfectly fine. Just remember to clean it weekly or every few days, especially when they get bigger. They like to break the mucus membrane of their insanely large poo, and that just makes a huge mess in the tank. I would recommend a sump if you're comfortable using it. Filter socks can help catch the waste if you can't siphon it out in time.

Okay awesome. As for sumps, I don't have much experience with them, i usually run a big canister filter with the tanks, would that still be ok? I would just have to make sure to vaccum the poop out whenever I see it. If they do break the membrane, do you suggest I vacuum what I can and do a water change?

As for diet, im sure I can find it online but I like to get multiple opinions. Do they get fed everyday or kinda every other day? I know they will eat fresh fish, shrimp and all of that

Canister filter will be fine. You could add a very coarse filter sponge to the canister filter intake to serve as the pre-filter.

Amount and how often depends on its size when you get it. When I got a SAL at 3", I feed it everyday exactly 1 bloodworm until it reached double its size. At 12" you could hold off feeding every 4-5 days.

When you fed him the bloodworms, was the one blood work like in the little frozen cube? So it's like one little cube of blood worms? Then when it get to 6-7 inches you pulled back on feeding it everyday.

As they get bigger the 12 inches plus. You would feed them bigger meals. I see some people feeding them talapia and raw chicken. When he does get that big , I just wanna make sure I'm not over feeding him in one sitting if that makes sense.

Welcome aboard
Yes 1 cube at 12 inches 4 to 5 days as Rocksor Rocksor stated. No Chicken!

Ok! I thought raw chicken seemed kinda odd thats exactly why I asked that and put that in there! If one day I were to feed him talapia. Is a whole talapia way to much for one meal , or break that fish into multiple feeding days? Apologies for all these questions, I wanna make sure I'm 100% before I get it!

For a 3" SAL (not even as thick as your pinky finger), 1 bloodworm literally, not one cube. The BW was about half its length. I saw no need to overfeed it, and putting 2 saw the other one not eaten. It could never finish the cube, and the rest of the BW just rotted in the tank. At 6-7" it would get the whole cube every other day. Feeding everyday left food to rot.

You'll get the hang of how much to feed when under 12". You will see what is eaten and what isn't.

Break up the slices first and see how much it will eat in a sitting. You don't have to feed until full when you get it to 12".
