i picked up several dwarf crenicichla a few weeks ago from the lfs. they appeared to have ich so i started treating for that. but they also seem too have lymphocystis. two how the white blotches on the top of there dorsal fin and one has on on one of its lower fins.

im aware there is no cure as it is a virus but its not neccesarily lethal. i heard of an option to cut the white blotches off and ive also heard just to leave it and treat for secondary bacterial infections and then everything might be ok. the pike are small, like 1.5 inches so i am kind worried that any surgery could be severely traumatizing.

looking for any suggestions and also any suggestion for a good antibacterial medication to use to fight off secondary infections? also one that is plant safe if its possible.

depending where the lumps are say on fins i'd remove the effected area

Lymphocystis tends to start with fins. Cut the affected parts and treat with Melafix with daily water changes until they recover. Do this in a hospital tank.

any recommended methods for performing this treatment?? tools to use to cut off the infected areas. also it seems to be very close to the body on the lower fins. is it ok to practically cuz the hole thing off? its not the anal fin. its the once below the gill area

i just tried to take them out and cut infected areas. they are so small i cant really get their fins up to cut them. i swapped some fish from my tanks to isolate them. is there any chance of survival?

i understand there is no cure cuz its viral but it is possible for them to kind of beat it and have it remain dormant? also is there anything i should do to the tank they were in to keep it from spreading?

No, the only way to stop it by cutting the affected parts off before it spreads further and eventually killing the fish.
