hey, i want to breed my lyretail mollies, the female's belly is way too fat, does this mean she is pregnant?when do i know she is ready to give birth?ive read they can give birth every 40-60 days, or something like that, but when do i kno shes ready?? do i have to leave them in the breeding tank for about 40 to 60 days??that would suck, i want to put them in the breeding tank only when there about to give birth!!also i've read adding a little bit of salt is a big help, please any help would be appreciated!;)

Molly breeding is a not that hard they were my first succes at i think 8 years old. They breed like wildfire if allowed to. Indeed, the molly is often kept in brackish aquariums Livebearers generally enjoy harder water, and will benefit from 1 to 1.25 teaspoons per gallon of non-iodized salt being added to the aquarium water. Lyretail Molly and the Veiltail Molly are more difficult to breed due to a very long gonopodium(Particular to the Live-bearing tooth carps, the gonopodium is the pelvic fins of male fish that have been converted into genital organs)
