So I recently got a spiny eel labeled a Zig Zag eel. In my mind I thought tire track eels and zig zag eels where the same species. Wikipedia as well as other sites mention they are both common names for the same species. On a site called Animal-World they list them as different species. The zig zag has the attached name Mastacembelus armatus, while the tire track, Mastacembelus favus. They mention they look almost identical but the zig zag eels grow about 36" while the tire tack only 24". Does anyone have any knowledge on these species? Googling both names gives me spiny eels that look identical usually with the common name tire track eel attached. I have attached a video of my eel incase there's a way to identify it.
