M or F dovii?

Hey guys, picking up a big dovii next weekend, apparently it’s 45-50cm. Photos aren’t the best but I’m pretty confident it’s a male. What do you guys think?

Looks female to me. The thick black lateral line and all the black markings bellow the lateral line.

Although I can see some freckling in the unpaired fins. Could just be a stressed unhappy male.

Thanks for the reply Andy, I watch your YouTube channel and your Dovii is what made up my mind to go on the hunt for one!

I think you’re correct about it being a stressed male, it was brought in to the fish shop only 2 days ago! It had been in a large tank for 6 years and it’s owner had to surrender it.

Apparently it has blue in the body also just can’t see it here, I’m picking it up next Saturday as it’s 2 hours away from me.

I have a male that looks almost like that. Thought it was a female until I saw the spotting on the unpair fins.

Have you vented your fish? There’s so much conflicting information regarding sexing dovii. I’m pretty sure it’s a male, I’ll vent it when I pick it up on Saturday to make sure.
