Hey guys , im just thinking trying to find out a abit diffrent for my fishes diet instead of shrimp! im a sports fisher man , and i usally catch some Pikes when im out fishing i was thinking shouldnt this be awesome food for my small ones at home? the ones i catch is pretty big 3kg is pretty regular , that makes food for REALLY long to my fishes! ive catched makreel earlier and fed it too my red SH and tsn if he gets the chance to eat it before the red does and he seems to enjoy it! what u guys think about feeding them some Pike ? native fish in sweden and really fun to sport fish i usally catch and realse them to keep the big ones still in the water but if i take some now and then it wouldnt hurt the habitat. and btw BOTH my asiatica snakeheads have settled in , theyr both eating shrimps and seem to enjoy it aswell. one is eating more then the other , but as long as they both eat im happy , my Red have been checking abit weirdly on them sometimes like "are they food or not?" But im giving him shrimp and he seem to prefer that before eating them and thats a very good sign beascue if i put in feeder fish in the aquaria and then try to feed him with shrimp , theres no way he will eat the shrimp if he still got fish to hunt in there! :nilly:

micropeltes will take pike no problem , i would fillet the pike and cut into smallish chunks and freeze , then just shot some in at feeding time , the rtc will also take pike , your asiatica may take pike ,but asiatica have a much more varied diet in nature than micros ,so i would still try and feed asiatica with shrimp worms insects bloodworms ect

cheers col

Hi,

if you are a fisherman, go aut for some Cyprinids like rudd, roach ,or others.
Your micro needs not only the fillet, he needs the stomach and whats in it , too.

Cheers Brucki

go aut for some Cyprinids like rudd,. sorry but please explain this better , ive got no idea what u mean , roaches i know but this not!! ive seen some worms outside when its raining but didnt try to feed them any, dont live in a house anymore so i dont got the abilirty to check my garden.

hi mate ,what brucki is refering to is, you should try and catch things that the micro can eat hole , that way it gets the benifit of the hole fish flesh ,bone, and stomach contents ,after all this is what it would eat in the wild .

rudd is a type of fish from the group Cyprinids ,you could feed theese whole to your snakeheads depending on size of course

cheers col
