Macquaria australasica (Macquarie Perch) on its way back!

I found this link. I find it interesting, I grew up in Bathurst and fished the Macquarie river my whole childhood and have never caught this species, only the invasive Redfin Perch and Rainbow/Brown Trout. It is great news that they are artificially breeding them to release back into their native habitat. I might be able to one day fish that river again and catch something that is native. Of course, I will be practising catch and release.
