raise the temp to 32c/89f and add a litte salt (dont exceed 2000 ppm, or your bichirs may be killed), after some days(less than one week), they are gone forever... this is my exprience, hope to help.

I am having this problem with these nasty worms. I recieved several (many) ploys from a friend, a few days later I noticed that many of them, mostly the sengalus had these little hair like worms attached to them. I used Jungle Parasite something or other and after 4 days per directions I changed the water and applied one more dose. Now today, the fifth day since first dose, I see these worms attached to the glass of the tank all over the place. They are still attached to the polys also. So now I will try raising the temp. as stated above. I also added salt with the first dose.

I have searched and searched here and on the web and can find little to no help irradicating this nasty pest. should I wait and be patient or should I try something else. I know its only been five days but I hate seeing them.

This was originally posted by me in a thread started by Vanimate: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=187872I dont want to hijack his thread so I am starting this one.

As stated above I noticed the worms. I did water change and treated with Jungle Parasite product and salt. Waited 4 days did water change and treated once more with same product. I also raised the temp to 86 F. I wanted to go higher but my heater wont do it.

It has been 4 days later (a total of 8 days from start to now) and here is what I see: The worms on the polys are about 80% gone from the fish. There are still quite a few of these nasty buggers attached to the tank. I need to do another water change and scrub the walls of the tank to get rid of the worms. Question is, where do I go from here?

1.add charcoal to filter to remove the medication

2.no charcoal, keep temps high, add salt and hope the rest disappear

3.no charcoal, keep temps high, add salt and another dose of medicine

4.Or just bring temps back down, continue with water changes and get over it

Please I need help on this. I feel that I am very close to irradicating this. I dont want to blow at this stage of the game.

Thanks.

I would keep going with what you are doing. You have to run the full life cycle for total kill off, just like treating for Ick.

you dont need to change the way you are doing right now, they are showing effective;) i suggest that you better keep on for another 4 days or more to get rid of them completely.

so high temp works as i said, right? haha

It seems that it does, I just wish I could get a couple degrees higher.

Should I add another dose of meds?

Okay, I gotta ask. What exactly does 2000 ppm mean?

What temp do you normally keep your polys at?

Thanks for all your help, and everyone else also.

"One part per million (ppm): Denotes one part per 1,000,000 parts, one part in 106, and a value of 1 × 10–6." you can find detailed info on wiki:grinno:

Okay, I am getting desperate here. I need some serious help now. Nothing I do is killing these worms. The polys seem fine, they are active, they eat, they just have worms all over them. I have tried copper safe, salt, raising the temp to 86, frequent water changes. I dont know what to do. I need something that will knock these buggers out for good. Please, someone give me some advice. What is the strongest med out there that is available in the US. It is killing me having these polys in my living room with all those damn worms.

Wow 3 weeks with these worms  What other meds have you tried so far? The polys dont have any red areas on them from the worms? I got rid of them in 3 days with Jungle's Parasite Clear.
