Madagascar was cut off form the rest of the world a very very long time ago" Pangaea" as most everyone is aware. This species Paratilapia Pollin is an example of prehistoric fish the have survived over this huge period of time.
Several varieties can be found. There is some discussion about the classification and existence of some of the fish. This is considered to be Small spot east coast Madagascar. Not bleekeri. The small spot pollini sport blue and gold spangling over a black velvet background. They can be quite beautiful. Males and females are equally colorful . They make a wonderful addition to a community tank. My experience is that they are
very cordial in the behavior and rarely show aggression. The exception would be when mature adults are kept with their own species . That can occasionally lead to problems. Awesome , intelligent , very cool fish !
