I made a inline heater useing some directions found on MFK. My question is my fx-5 stops for 2mins every 24hrs. Will that burn out the heater because it dont have water running on it?

Not a problem. Most heaters these days have auto-shutoffs and the water will still carry away heat despite it not moving.

TY for answering that

Only issue you would have is if the water is drained out of the heater chamber. If it's inline with your FX5 you shouldn't have any problems.

The FX5 stops not drains so there should be water in the chamber so your fine.

Most modern heaters have the shutoffs as mentioned so it's not really an issue. The main concern is if they are exposed to air they get quite hot and the thin glass can crack from thermal expansion. If they don't they almost always crack from thermal shock if hit with water while they are HOT.
