Made my archers shoot!

This is only something I've seen on the discovery channel or on youtube (don'tcha love the range there).

I was feeding them dried krill when I accidently droped one on the glass.

I didn't notice it until I walked away and heard a tapping. I look back to the tank to figure what it is, and my archer fish are shooting the glass top trying to "knock" down the shrimp from the other side!!!

I was amazed since I've never seen them do it. I have rocks going up one side of my tank... so I put some shrimp on the rock protruding from the water, walked away and BOOM! They shot it off and goobled it up.

MAN is that fun to watch. I had a ball all night feeding them and watching them work for their dinner.

Between hand feeding my stonefish and snowflake eel, and watching archers shoot for food... feeding time is like my favorite part of the day :)

My brackish tank is directly beside my computer. So when I come home from work and am just sitting on the comp, my archers will spit water out of the crack between the tank rim and the glass canopy and hit me in the top of the head. They know if they do this I will feed them. :)
 
Wow that's really cool, how did that start?
 
I first thought they were shooting at food laying on the lid but there has never been any there, and my room is always really dark minus the tank light so I cant see how they were shooting at an insect or something. I dont know how they got the grand idea to shoot their care taker in the head, but one day I was online and kept feeling water and I looked over and saw my archers lined up beside me at the tank and spitting :p I then fed them...and theyve done it every morning since.
 
My archerfish is in my bedroom, and if there is even a tiny gap in the tank lid, he'll spit on my head while I sleep.
 
lol, I always laugh when mine do that...most people like to think that we have our fish trained, but Im sure that its really the fact that our fish have us trained :)
