i have a 150 that has 3 magnum 350's on it and was wanting to make one for carbon one with the water polishing filter and one a bio setup. So the question is what are recommendations to use for this ceramic or like some matrix type. also does this filter setup between the three sound like a good idea. In future will be moving up to fx5 or eheim filter. thanks for the idea and input.

IMO, all you need for BIO is a sponge filter or two depending on size. I know they are not aesthetically pleasing, but they do the job very well. Use the extra Mag for more polishing and alternate between the two of them for maintenance. But in the end, its all up 2 U.

I wouldn't use one for carbon. It's a waste of money every month to change it out. Only use it if you're trying to remove meds. Use 2 for Bio using ceramic media like Seachem matrix and use one for filter floss.

for the filter floss would you wrap it around the column in the middle of the basket like a fruit roll up on its side. also would you use the filter sleeve on either of them that go over the sock. once i start this up how often should i mess with it. thanks for the knowledge.

I would just fill the filter with floss. You're probably going to have to replace it once a week or every other week. It's cheap enough though. Yea I would use the cartridge

Thanks for the foam idea may go with that over the filter floss. A little more up front cost put should last a long time.
