What is the best way to secure Mag Drive pumps? Specifically the 3600 and 2400 models.

Thanks in advance.

umm.. what do u mean??

One is going into a sump so I will probably strap it to a solid rubber mat to cut down on vibration against the sump. I would imagine they are noisy sitting directly on the bottom of a sump.

The second is the one I would like to mount to a board. It will be drawing water from the tank then pushing it thru 2 Ocean Clears and a UV. Most pumps have a base plate so that the pump can be secured to a board or whatever your using. Could I just use metal straps to secure it?

Your on the right track.

Use nylon tie wraps to secure a closed cell foam pad (cut up an old wet suit or a mouse pad... whichever you have handy (just clean the one going into the sump, experiment with thickness')) to cut down on noise from vibration and to abate abration (don't need any extra holes in the sump).

Good Luck.

Let us know how it works.

they come with a foam pad.... i have 2 sitting on my sump no problems

The 3600 came with the tank and the 2400 I got used but "unused" on ebay for a smokin' price. Neither one came with a pad. I like the mousepad idea, thanks.

i was going to say my mag drive is extremly quiet and i have the 2400, im very very impressed!
