Looking for feeback on a magnet cleaner capable of cleaning 3/4" acrylic.

This is what I found so far.

The F-4
http://www.mightymagnets.com/store.htm

and

510A
http://magfloat.net/510A.htm

Looks like the F-4 has replaceable pads and I didn't see that for the Mag. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'd like to hear some input before I spend that kind of cash for an algae cleaner.

Thanks in advance!!

I got a magfloat for my 600 and it works great. Ebay has them for much cheaper than anywhere else.

X2, never tried anything outher than mag float. Outher company looked good, little pricy though.

What size did you guys use? Did you use a 510 or 510A or a smaller one? How long have you used it? Can you replace the pad?

Both brands are expensive in that size with the Mighty Magnet a little more expensive.

you must get the one made for acrylic.
I use mag-float and have never seen the over. I will only buy the floating type cleaners from now on.

I have every size magfloat that they make..... There is no pad it is like a scrubby. I have had my first one for about 4.5 years yet and never had any problems with anything.

They are enough money with out having to buy replacement pads for it also..... I would steer away from a company that wants you to spend more money replacing pads

you must get the one made for acrylic.
That is what the "A" in 510A stands for.

Thanks Stingingrays, do you have one that you use on an acrylic tank?

I have a magfloat for acrylic tank and before opening the package I though it was a scrub pad like the cheaper cleaners, but after opening the package I noticed its actually a velcro pad, at least similar. The hook part of the velcro that is. It can get stuck on terry cloths etc. I also noticed when I clean my tank, it doesn't always get all the algae out due to the tiny gaps between each hook/bristle. So I end up scrubbing back and forth many times.

Thanks bearskookums, just the type of feedback I'm looking for.

I sent messages to both companies.

Customer service at Mag Float = non existent

Customer service at Mighty Magnets = The Best !

Rick at Mighty Magnets has answered every question I have. One bonus to his product is that they sell a scratch removal kit that can be used on the inside of the tank while full of water with his algae remover. Another plus that I have gathered is that the Mighty Magnets will remove algae much quicker using less passes than Mag Float due to the pads utilized.

I'm going to buy the Mighty Magnet and will post a review after I use it for awhile. Hopefully my research is correct.
