I leave mine underwater but would that do damage to the mag scrub material in any way?
Since I always see people stick their's above-water level.

All of mine are below water level...I have more tanks than I do mags so I clean any build up off of them when I move them.

:iagree: its not a problem about leaving them underwater, jus make sure you keep it clean so you dont scratch the glass, or transfer parasites from tank to tank

mine have been underwater for years with no problems.......

thanks! i was worried that the scrub part will rot or something.lol

i leave mine underwater but i added a layer of filter material because the velcro-like pad didnt do it for me.

really? do you have alot of algae or something?
do you have the right size?

maybe i'm saying that because i've never seen algae on my tank yet.
the walls are slimy but is that gonna turn into algae?

i only get algae in a small spot in the middle of the front and along the bottom. the velcro pad thats on the MF get algae like trying to sweel the flood with a rake. i stuck the media pad to it so its like wiping the algae off. works alot better. i have large one rated for 300g on my 150 and the MD rated for 125 on the 55.

what media pad are you using?
is it an acrylic tank..aren't you afraid the media might scratch it?

its glass, i cut the blue filter pad off of a biowheel cartridge
