I've got a mag24 on my 180g. It has "failed" a few times. In the past, I have plugged it in and out repeatedly/quickly and it has kicked on. I have heard that others have had this problem. It's hard plumbed in, so I knocked it around a little and tried a few x. NOTHING. I tried to stick my finger in it to try to spin the prop and nothing. I've got a mag5 and a powerhead to get me through the night. Any other ideas to get it through the night other than replacing???? Thanks!

Nothing outside of opening it up. reversing the water pressure (even if you could) probably won't help either.

Sorry for the bad news.

Re-install with unions (couplings) and shutoff valves. (hindsight is usually 20-20, personal experience talking here).

AH... it's hard plumbed in. It's my daughter's birthday today so I can't take it to a store to exchange it.. although they always exchange them no questions asked. The mag 5 worked ok overnight. I'll have to get the 9.5 out of my 450g that I use as a powerhead to keep the water moving more in the 180g.....

What better present could you give your daughter than a whole day with her Dad (she can hand you the tools & towels :D). Quality time and she may learn a couple of new words too .

lol.. She's 2. She'd had me one thing then lose interest. the 9.5 is in there. It was pretty easy. I just hooked it up to my python and ran the hose in the top of the tank. so 9.5 and 5 = 1200 gph or so. That'll work for now. I 'll cut it off and take it back and just get a new one on Monday.
