I use redundant filtration in all of my tanks. In my 90 I have an Eheim Pro 3, with a 2028. In my others (56G), I use 2028’s with sponge filters. Has anyone here ever used the Magnavore Chemical reactor for simple chemical filtration? While browsing, I came across this add, at BigAlsOnline.com:
“Simplicity Chemical Reactor is a free-standing fluidized bed chemical filtration reactor for use in any type sumps to incorporate chemical filtration. Fluidization of chemical media and 100% bypass-free operation ensures ultra-efficient chemical filtration. Reactor accepts up to 16 oz of any loose media: PhosLock, PURA Complete, NitrateLock, PURA Carbon and all others! Bagless operation. No bags, no mess! Self-cleaning feature. 300-micron replaceable screens. Flow rate: 50 to 500 GPH (189 to 1893 LPH), System volume: 50 to 900 Gal (189 to 3407L)”
It seems like a very simple, inexpensive way to increase chemical filtration. Any comments? Share experiences?

The only thing that might be an issue is dust being given off in fluid bed operations for chemical media. Carbon is well known for creating dust when jostled when wet or dry. The fluid bed operating mode would cause constant churning and could lead to lots of carbon dust in your sump and tank.

I've seen it run with 16 Oz of media with little problems. Then it's working as a regular chemical filter.

Interesting idea, I agree with the carbon problem though. I'm sure that's what the screens are for, but if you were using regular carbon I could see the screens plugging up.

I would use that solely for Purigen or any Phosphate remover.
