Hi all,

I have high GH at home of about 14. I usually use resin to lower GH and recharge it after 50-60 litres with a saltwater solution. I found out this product on ebay and it has good reviews. Do you think that it would do the job in lowering the GH?

Or else is there another solution apart from RO? By the way I have RO but with 10 litre wasted water I only get 1 litre and I read that it could be a hard water issue so maybe I could lower the GH in order to get more RO water.

Thank you

I wouldn't waste my money - looks like pure snake oil to me.

mmm with very good reviews though.

Yes, but...

Are the reviews written by real satisfied customers or by the people selling the product?
Even if they are written by real customers, do those customers have a clue what they are talking about?
Do you think the seller is posting all reviews, or just favorable ones?

The "scientific" dicourse is pure mumbo-jumbo. There is no way to reduce hardness without removing minerals. A magnet on the outside of a pipe simply will not remove minerals.

Check out this link regarding the pseudoscience of magnetic water softening:

i also read on amazon and feedbacks on ebay.

you cannot delete feedback on ebay.

no it does not remove but a reaction that makes the hardness invisible or something like that.

I can't keep you from wasting your hard-earned money, but the fact is that magnetic water softeners are considered a scam/fraud by the vast majority of the scientific community.

oh ic hehe then i should continue with the resin ion exchange. Seems fine for fish right?

Yep.

One thing that will reduce the ratio of wastewater to softened water is running at a higher pressure. They make small booster pumps just for R.O. filters.

I think the pressure is high enough. Is it possible that it should be more high? Also since the RO is in the internal shaft I have a problem with the power outlet.
