I just bought a magnum 350.. i put it all together and filled it with water.. then it says turn in on for ten seconds then shut it off and air should bubble out the intake.. it did .. but i still have air in the filter.. i can see it bubbling in it ..i cant get the air out of it and its enough to where its blowing small micro bubbles into the tank.. what can i do ??

my fluval 405 does this all the time. I usually just tip the top of the filter a little bit in all driections and that gets it out. Its a never ending battle it seems.

Is this on a saltwater tank? make sure you clean it on a regular basis. They can become nitrate makers in no time if not well maintained.

yea it is a SW tank... where does it build up.. or how do you clean yours... this air is actually comming from the intake tube.. its blowing air doin into the canister... i called marineland and they told me to check my connections..where the hose connects to the quick disconnects.. he said i might be gettin air between somewhere... PAIN IN MY *** :nilly:

one thing i will say is that more then likely if your getting air, then you would also notice a leak. What i find that happens is that alot of these filters have so many GPH that the rust of the water from top to bottom is creating micro bubbles and they all congregate in one area until it gets worked out.

I know not exactly an active thread but thought I'd put in my experience with the 350. Ive been running a magnum since 2000 and always had that little bit of air caught at the top right fter cleaning. Not much you can do but it will go away over time. You can mnimize it by using a power head to prime the canister through the return line with the suction line quick connect seperated and open. I usually just put my thumb over the opening and control how fast the canister fills then when the water reaches my thumb close the valve. You can minimize it further by shaking the canister and bleading what ever air gets to the valve.

Sounds more complicated than it is! :)
