So I just went and got a new magnum hot canister for my 20gal (it will probably eventually end up on my 65 in addition to a rena xp3, but for now I'm trying it out on the 20gal because the existing filter was bothering me)

There's a very loud trickling noise (waterfall) noise coming from inside the canister...is this normal? Its fluctuating in intensity seemingly at random....I was really counting on this thing being silent, so whats the deal? I'm using the carbon container setup...its fll of the carbon that came with it with the blue sponge cover on, I filled the canister with water and made sure everything seemed to be fitting correctly...I don't see any leaks...whats up?

Not sure why I can't edit this post...but I figured it out. I THOUGHT it was from inside the canister, but it was actually just from the output being JUST over the surface of the water...all but about 1/16th of an inch of the output nozzle was underwater and it was causing some massive noise. I had to rotate the whole thing about a quarter turn so that its pointing slightly down in order to get it under the water, now its running fine. I also directed the flow towards the closest side of the aquarium which greatly reduced the current through the rest of the tank. Since this filter doesn't have a flow adjustment this seemed like the best alternative for that issue.

So far I'm digging it :)
