That was just a best guess. At that size, It could be a Malaysian Mahseer for all we know. There are some features that make me think Tor Tor.
Lucky Jibran can see the different Indian Mahseers first hand. All I can see is what I can get from Wes. I got a batch of 50 putitora fingerlings from Wes years ago. They were so small you can't tell what species they were except rely on the exporter. Well, they turned out to be a mixed batch. I ended up with all sorts. One mahseer, I can't tell what it is and the rest appears to be neo hex, putitora and the majority Tor Tor. Having them side by side and raised from the same start size, you can see the differences. Putitora is longer and yellow with pointed snout, eyes are beady. Tor tor is half to 2/3 the size, taller and has a orange fin/tail, top of the head profile rolls down a little, lip is a little under the snout.
Great discussion. Please post your putitora.
