My lfs has some juvenile mahseer in (only 6inch) not sure what type they are but I certainly want one! My question is will it be ok on its own? I know they like to school but I have 4 pink tail chalceus and an i.d shark so it'll have company in the tank. Any advice on these fish would be appreciated :)

I would recommend a group of them because they would do better one will more then likely get stressed easily. what size tank you got?

Even if I have other fish in there? I have pink tail chalceus which are of similar body shape if that helps?

It isn't the same. Bala sharks and tin foils are very similar but rarely school together as they do with the same species.

It will do fine on its own. However, when the mahseer gets bigger, I may worry for the chalceus
