A very well known brand that makes lights, filters, and pumps, made in china, and really cheap. I went to their main outlet store and bought a pump. ..... so the afternoon i brought it home, the pump turns out that they have a defect on it. it wont take in air through an airline to blow out bubbles like its supposed to ( its not that im using it the wrong way, im 100% sure thats how its suppose to be used , even the salesman there said so) called them immediately and said they'll take it back. so i went n brought it back to them... taking my precious time on a friday evening... and then they said I WONT GIVE U BACK MONEY BUT I"LL GIVE YOU CREDIT... and also said THE WHOLE SHIPMENT OF THESE PUMPS ARE ALL DEFECTS ... ..errr okay.... dont u see a problem there.... if they know these r bad pumps and they r selling it, and they dont tell that to the customer, and when the customer finds out, they dont give money back, but only credit and everyone knows very well credit is worth less than actual money... isnt that cheating? ...

*no names included cuz i know tis website doesnt allow that.... and if tis is inappropriate to talk about , mods please close.

it was done through card o.O so u r sayin i could tell the credit card company to do something ? .... hmmm...

You won't be successful, all they have to say is it is not their policy to refund and you need to take care when purchasing a product.

Chinese made pumps are notorious for this defect and in the end you get what you pay for. Others should take this and learn from it.

hmmm....

thats so unfair though, so u r sayin, a business can just say its not their policy to refund n stuff, and they r sellin broken stuff to people when they r advertising a fully functional object?? not fair :|

if they purposefully sell faulty goods under the guys of fully functioning products then its illegal. its misrepresentation of goods and /or false advertising. in america do you have a 12 month guarantee on all electrical goods?
if so then you are entitled to fully working replacement but if that cannot be offered then a refund must be issued. if you are in any doubt speak to your card company because if you paid with a credit card this gives a guarantee of goods fit for purpose, your pump obviously is not. and you should get your money back. debit cards on the other hand is up to the banks discretion, but most pay out for good will to keep your custom (especially at the moment).

unless they have an already published policy...

.
Wrong.

Maybe down under the consumer is allowed to be abused, but here in the free world the consumer is heavily protected. It is almost ridiculous the how lenient the contesting procedures are for most cards.

1. IS this outlet in your home state?
2. How far is this outlet from your home?

There is alot to contesting a charge under Reg.Z in some instances the seller must be given a chance to repair the product or replace it. In some instances that is not needed.
Either way a telephone call to your card issue is not sufficient. Some card co.s will accept and email notification, some will only accept in wiriting. Either way you will need to include your name, address, card number and info, the type of product, the type of trouble you have with it, the name and address of the seller, and other info that your card co. may require.
It can be a pain to contest a charge, but I have been successful EVERY time (4) I have done it.
