Maingano sexing

Not sure thoose are Mainganos..............mine never had "clear" fins - always since 1" blue and black...........only my aratus shows "clear" fins also my Maingango has blue tips on the dorsal not white...............but I'm no expert so I can't ID your fish.
well the top definitely looks like maingano not sure bout the bottom one, and from what i was told the male and female have different numbers of stripes, im thinking it was the female that had one more stripe than the male but it might be the other way around i forget (so if i remember correctly one will have dark stripe on belly while other doesnt), the ones i have do have different numbers so i figured this was true but not sure if this follows with others since everyone else says you cant tail unless venting(which i dont know how to do)
just looked it up and apparently it is the male that has the dark belly stripe and dont most african males have egg spots on their anal fins, is this true of the maingano as well because if so you could also tell by that (my tank is still at my parents house so i cant look at my male to tell)
yeah i know i was just telling him to look at that in addition to the black belly stripe as these together will conclude whether it is male so the one in the top pic is most likely male, still dont know about the second fish though as it looks totally different than mine (she has same dark colors that the male has just doesnt have the last "stripe" on the belly) but i guess it could be a female just with really like coloring...
Or it could be a subdominant male, a juvenile male or a stressed male, we could guess all we want, but venting or seeing it hold would be the only sure way to tell.
Males, just as females, could take on the "common" coloration/traits of the opposite sex in different circumstances.
