First off I did my best at searching the forum but it seems like the search is way to sensitive or I can't get my search specific enough to find what I'm looking for, so links to comparable threads are also appreciated.

Diet:
What composes a proper diet in the home aquarium for a Silver Arowana?
We know in the wild there main diet is insects, but we can't always be throwing crickets in our tank.
Currently my Aro is on a diet of Hikari Cichlid Gold & frozen Krill.

Health:
Drop Eye:
The Cause:
Attention focused below themselves as apposed to above in the wild.
We know:
We also know that since an Arowana's main diet in the wild comes from insects that they prey on by jumping out of the water we need to keep its attention to the surface. In my opinion the best way to do this is to minimalize/eliminate any sort of food from being at any level [in the tank] other than above the Arowana. (AKA: NO MORE FEEDERS!)
So right off the bat floating foods are ideal. Younger Arowana's some times seem to have trouble with hard pellets and often times its better to moisten them slightly before feeding, not only taste but ease of eating also reflect on how well the specified food will rate on your fish's "picky eaters list". (I also prefer to slightly thaw my frozen foods under some running water.)

THE POINT:
So what else can I do to keep my Arowana's diet rich and full?
So what else can I do to prevent my Arowana from getting drop eye?
-I've heard of the "toy" trick (throwing a ping pong ball in tank to catch his attention upwards more often) does this work well?

Thanks and any info as always is greatly appreciated.

i thought drop eye was caused by a bad diet aka overfedin which causes a build up of fat around the eye causing it to drop ???

I guess I'm not really sure on that. Seems like a strange place to store fat lol. Maybe it works that way because in the wild if there over eating the eye pops down and they cant look-up for more food till they loose some weight lol.

More opinions please on what to feed and drop eye prevention.

DE is a real mystery.. there have been loads of discussions on this.. and everybody has a theory.. I believe its mostly because of injury.. when they jump out of the tank or while handling.. as far as your questions go.. the easiest way is to read this sticky..

all the best with your aro.. cheers..

cant remember were i got that info from tbh but it was something in my head, cud be balls lol

DE occurs in silvers. Period. No foolproof conclusion as to its cause, but that is how it is. There is no relation with injuries neither with diet. Blacks, Aussies and Asians have no DE, kept in the same conditions.

I suggest you stop worrying about DE, because odds are your silver will at least have it in one eye, when grown up.

Keep it on good quality pellets. Start with floating, then when it is used to pellets it will pick them from the bottom ( mine devour Hikari Massivore Delight, for instance ).

Throw in, every now and then, a couple of crickets and the odd zoophoba ( wonderworm )-go easy on those because of the fat content - mussell and shrimp ( without head or tail so as to avoid internal stomach injuries ).

This is it, more or less.

Thanks for the good info guys.
I have another question, Isnt it kind of strange that a fish who's main diet consists of bugs would become insignificant at a point? When your a 3 foot arowana are you really going to want to jump your fat "tail" out of the water for 1 beetle? It seems like at this point Arowanas would be burning more carbs then they are taking in... I wounder if in the wild silver Arowana change there diet at this point seeing as how they can swallow much bigger fish at this point. Just a thought.
