IN A PLACE
I stopped by my local plastic fabricator for a few pieces of pvc sheet. When I got to talking to the guys about all my tanks, they showed me one of their "projects". It was a truly monster tank built for Jellyfish. Measured 10ft long x 2-4ft wide (its a bowfront) x 5ft tall. Roughly 1200 gallons built from either 1 or 1.5" thick acrylic. One slight problem with it: the back panel failed. Not a seam busting, but it looked like a broken window with shards in the corners. I have never seen acrylic fail in that way before--so bummed that I didn't take a photo for you all.

Well that sucks. Though it would have failed even if the acrylic didn't as jellies can't live in anything but a cylinder tank anyway

ya but any corner can catch and kill a jelly

Ya its not the corners but the fact at they can get pressed up against the acrylic and that tears em, that's why cylinders are used so the flow keeps them suspended in the center

That sounds like something that happened with a 5g acrylic bowfront I had once, all the corners got little cracks in them and they looked shattered. No idea why it happened either.

I'm sure the company probably doesn't want pictures of their exploding tanks plastered all over the internet either...
