Hey whats up guys! Im getting a huge 300 gallon aquarium! I just want EVERYONES opinion on what would be the BEST type of filtration that you guys would think thats best for this mammoth! Should I combine Mech, and Canisters? Just SUMP! Sump and CAN's? Just any and all input is very important to me! Thanks!

A big RTC is going In there! Hes about 20 inches now!

Personally I would do a Sump at an appropriate size to your tank, and some canisters along with some HOB....a little big of everything.

To be specific on the filters, get around 2 Fluval FX5, and like 3 AC500.

since your sticking a big RTC in the tank run a sump to keep all the equipment out of the tank. i could easily see a RTC deciding to thrash around and or eat filter pieces and heaters.

:iagree:
And large tanks are no place for HOB's. In terms of media they are dismal at best.

By the way, there is no point in combining filter types (except rare conditions). Either go with a sump or canisters. There isn't a benifit of using both.

You can customize a sump to do everything your fish tank will need and then some. Canisters are a fast off-the-shelf alternative to sumps for those who do not take well to tinkering with things.
