My Magnum 350 canister broke down 2 days ago and I had to put my 4 piranha in my 20 gallon feeder tank which had about 20 feeder guppies in it. My question is #1) The piranha already ate all the feeders so are the P's going to be ok?
2) How long can my 75 gallon tank go without a filter running before I put a new one in? Will the water go bad if it sits stagnant for a period of time?

I can't get a new filter until the end of next week.

Please advise (my p's are about 4 inches apiece)

If I were you, take the filter from the 20 gallon feeder tank and put it on the 75 gallon. Do water changes twice a week, about 40%. If you don't do this, there is a good chance that you will end up with 1 or 2 P's left in the 20 gallon by the end of next week.

did your magnum 350 have bio media in it?like rings or bioballs? that filter alone already might not have been enough...do you have any other filters on the ps tank?

it would probably be best to go and get some eggcrate to divide up each one. or you might be down a few reds by then.
As for the tank just get a air pump to keep the water moving.

and when you get another filter. you might want to get 2 like a XP3 and a AC500. it's best to have your tank turnover 8x per hour. so 600 GPH

yep a few running on my tanks as well.

sound like you have only 350 running on your tank.....

first i dont think that's enough filteration for 75g with those piranha.

second you should have atleast a couple of filter running in there incase this situation happen to you.

keep doing water change every day for 20% and put some air stone for them for oxygen. once you get your new filter, take the media out from the 350 and put in the new one.

again dont forget to get couple of filter to run with the tank.

do what everyone is telling u, put the 20 filter on the big tank do alota water changes

I made a big rookie mistake by not having more than 1 filter on such an important investment....I will purchase 2 filters next week to protect me from this issue in the future.
