Ok, so I have a 55g tank that is stocked "well."
On it I have an Aqueon 55, and a Cascade 200 - both are HOB.
I have been considering adding some media to the Aqueon 55, because there is actually quite a bit of room in there, but it only has two slots for the carbon inserts it came with. I was thinking about adding something behind the carbon filter pads (so the water would past through the pads last), but am not sure what to use.
I have read that cutting up plastic straws can be used for media, and isn't really that bad for what it is. Could I cut up a bunch of straws and put them in something? What?
What are some other things I could use in my Aqueon for some DIY media?

Well, then you probably need to grow up
the scrubbies are basically made out of the same material as bio balls.
I would bet that half the experienced members here on MFK use pot scrubbies.
